Accom Ideas
We recommend you base yourself in Cairns or Palm Cove for Wednesday & Thursday evenings and then relocate to Mareeba for Friday, and Port Douglas for Saturday evening (and Sunday evening if you're staying to play!).
This will enable easy transfer to the start and finish of each stage and on the last day you can then roll back to your accommodation after the celebrations!!
Camping / Motor Home
For riders and their travel parties wishing to either camp or motor home throughout the event there are many campsites available within close proximity to each days start / finish venue.
Suggested options include;
- Day 1 – Cairns (Cairns South / Cairns Holiday Park)
- Day 2 – Cairns (Cairns South / Cairns Holiday Park)
- Day 3 – Mareeba (Ringers Rest RV Park) / Mt Molloy (Rifle Creek, Wetherby Station)
- Day 4 – Mt Molloy (Rifle Creek, Wetherby Station)
Wetherby Station
Wetherby Station provides cabins, camping and tent hire at awesome rates. Camping here starts from $40 per vehicle per night right near the homestead along with access to hot showers and toilets. Cabins are around $95 per night. For those who want a cold swim after the ride, Rifle Creek is close by. Or warm up in the evenings and share your war stories around the camp fire circle. Ringers Rest RV Park
Ringers Rest RV Park is suitable for fully contained RV's, motorhomes, caravans or camp trailers only (no tent, swag or ground camping permitted). Set on 360 acres of private property, 6km from the town of Mareeba, offers a dedicated camp area with sealed roads, loos and communal camp fire pits. Site fees start at $10 per site, per night for 2 people (additional $5 per extra person, per site). And NO BOOKINGS REQUIRED! So if you've left it until too late to get a room in the heart of town, find yourself an RV and head rural to Ringers Rest RV Park.

Hotel / Apartment
Tropical North Queensland offers a huge range of hotel and apartment accommodation options for visitors.
If this fits your preference our recommendation is to base yourself in Cairns for Days 1 and 2 (travel time to Smithfield is approx. 15-20 minutes).
After Day 2 relocating to Mareeba for Days 3 and/or 4 will enable another easy transfer to the starts at Atherton Tablelands (travel time approx. 35mins) and Mt Molloy for Day 4 (travel time approx. 30mins).
If you decided to stay in Port Douglas for Day 4 however, you will have the option to book the shuttle in to the start line on Day 4, then you will have an easy roll back to your accommodation after the end of event celebrations!
